What Time Is It? File Folder Game
A paper clock with moving hands is a classic — and we had to add one to our printable file folder games! We've included a digital clock display and a notepad for telling time in numbers and words, so children can try learning all the different ways of reading and telling the time.
With clocks and watches all around us, children will just love being able to tell the time themselves. Tick, tock…
How to make & play
What you need: printed templates, file folder, scissors, glue, craft knife (for cutting small holes), removable sticky notes (optional).
- Print out the template and cut out all the parts carefully.
- Use a craft knife to cut the small holes for the clock hands — parents should do this step.
- Attach the clock hands through the hole with a brass paper fastener so they can rotate freely.
- Glue the clock face, digital display and notepad sections inside the file folder.
- To play: one person sets the clock hands to a time and the other child reads the time, then writes it on the notepad in digital and word form.
- Ask questions that relate to daily routines — "What time do you wake up?", "What time is lunchtime?" — to make the activity personal and meaningful.
Use removable sticky notes to write the times so the notepad section can be reused again and again.
